Traditional macramé handicraft and hand-knotted decorative border as a visual highlight
João, our master weaver, knots up to 6000 longitudinal threads per hammock by hand. The beautiful boho look of the Rio hammock results from the traditional macramé handicraft which is used for the traditional hand-knotted ornamental border (veranda). The two ends of the woven fabric are also carefully knotted by hand into macramé,** which is then woven into the cotton band. The ends of the macramé are used to make sturdy eyelets for the suspension cords.
