The Schwalbe Aerothan SV15 inner tube represents the latest generation of bicycle inner tubes made from a special thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU).
The most significant change in this new generation is the transition from an all-plastic valve to a robust aluminum body with an external thread.
Greater durability: The aluminum valve eliminates the risk of the valve “wobbling” or breaking off from the tube body during careless pumping.
Improved stability: Thanks to the external thread and nut, the valve holds firmly in the rim, does not rattle, and is easier to attach to a pump.
Compatibility: Fully supports the new Schwalbe Clik Valve system.
Aerothan is not rubber (butyl), but a high-tech plastic developed in collaboration with BASF.
Extremely low weight: It weighs approximately 58 g, which is 40–60% less than a standard butyl tube. In the rotating mass of the wheel, this is noticeable in acceleration.
Rolling resistance: It matches the levels of tubeless systems or latex tubes. The bike feels more responsive.
Puncture resistance: Although it is very thin, it is twice as resistant to punctures (thorn test) and significantly more resistant to “snakebites” (punctures caused by the rim) than butyl.
